After using Rohlik (the Czech version of Gurkerl) for years, I absolutely hate Gurkerl. The food selection is much more limited, the delivery times are horrible (never enough times available, the courier always comes at the latest possible time/late), the courier never rings my bell or calls me. The fruit and vegetable selection is not only limited but it's never as good or fresh as I'd hope. What I loved about Rohlik was the partnerships with amazing boutique grocery shops, farmers, etc. and that's missing from here (any available are overpriced, not a great quality or good tasting anyways). No premium version available. The minimum purchase amount for even delivery itself is insane. Not a fan.
I have been ordering from Gurkerl ever since the lockdown two years ago. Even back then as a fledgling company, their product selection was quite varied and customer service was top notch, and still is to this day. The website is available in both German and English, and their customer service people also speak English very well and are always super friendly and helpful. One of the best things about their service is that you have a window of time after placing your order to add anything you may have forgotten. They have plenty of time slots available and deliver quickly. Especially today (we have heavy snow fall), I just wanted to add that the first thing you see when you go to their website is a message apologizing for the massive delays in deliveries due to snow conditions. At least they tell you what is going on. I can tell you right now that one of the big, popular grocery store chains does not bother to offer delivery status updates on their website or any of their social medias. Therefore, I highly recommend Gurkerl. They understand great service from start to finish.
I love this online supermarket! It has items not available elsewhere (e.g. salted butter, Costa Coffee beans, M&S items such as chutney and clotted cream ice cream, Mexican corn tortilla shells, and much much more). The shopping app is very user-friendly, and with orders not being shipped in the next three hours, there is generally a grace period where you can add items you forgot. Their delivery people are really friendly and the whole company is service-oriented. I highly recommend them and I hope they will be around for a long time!
I came across Gurkerl once I started living alone and hated carrying a lot of shopping bags to my apartment from the supermarket. I’ve been ordering for about 2 years and love their service. Not only do they offer cool products which you don’t usually get at normal supermarkets, but the customer service is also great. I also just received a picknick blanket for free… overall I’d give them 10 stars if I could.
I have been using Gurkerl for food delivery for almost two years. Their prices are in line with supermarket prices, the produce is of an excellent quality, especially the fresh produce, and their website is clear and easy to use.
The delivery drivers, without exception, are polite and helpful. An added bonus is that a selection of Marks and Spencers and Britwurst are also available.
I will continue to use Gurkerl and would recommend it to anyone who is planning on having food delivered.
In general great experience - easy shop interface (even registration is comfortable), 1h delivery time slot, ordered on Sunday and got on Monday at 7:30 (very different to big shops). I agree with Alex H. on tips - the customer is forced to give a tip. I do not like tips and would prefer delivery costs instead if required - it would be clear and fair.
Update:
No refund for a product that was declared differently in the store is the last straw. …
My friend currently works here and the employees have had their breaks reduced from two to one (ten hour shift) and quite often the employees go 6+ hours before finally getting their unpaid break. This supermarket/company seems to enjoy …
